
What is GTS?
Garrett Transit Service (GTS) is, a department of Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc., a non-profit organization providing demand response - a specialized form of transportation service. This is a shared-ride, door-to-door, advanced reservation service offered on a space-available basis. Driver assistance is provided.
Scheduling Your Trip
GTS operates on an advanced reservation service. Trips can be scheduled up to 30 days in advance. To schedule a trip, call 301-533-9010 (or 301-334-9431 Ext. 6300), Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Make your call by 2:00 p.m. the day before your appointment. A 3 day advance notice required for any trips out of the local area. When scheduling a trip please provide the following information.
* The day and date of the trip.
* Appointment time or desired pickup time.
* The exact street address and phone number of each location you will be picked up and dropped off.
* The time you wish to return.
Telephone calls after 6:00 p.m. are recorded and will be handled on the next work day. Please speak slowly and leave a brief message. If you are calling to schedule a ride, you must speak with a GTS staff person beore your pickup can be confirmed.
Service Area
GTS provides transportation throughout Garrett County on a space-available basis. Trips to medical facilities in Baltimore (Baltimore, Hagerstown, and Frederick trips are made on Tuesdays and Thursdays), Morgantown and Cumberland are also available.
Scheduled Trip Time
To promote shared riding, we may request that you travel earlier than your requested pickup time. This policy helps GTS continue to operate an efficient transit system. We appreciate your cooperation.
Fare Information
General Public (per 16 miles)

Tickets may be purchased at the office or through any driver. You can purchase a $10.00 or $20.00 ticket. All fares must be paid at time of boarding the vehicle.
Packages
Packages shall be limited to only those which can be secured, do not block aisles or exits, and do not take up seats needed for additional passengers. NO packages containing flammable or hazardous materials.
Pick Up Policy
Please be ready and at your pickup site 15 minutes prior to your scheduled pickup time. Drivers may arrive 15 before or 15 minutes after scheduled pickup time. Drivers will wait 5 minutes from the pickup time before considering the pickup a NO Show.
EXAMPLE: Pickup time is 10:00 a.m. Driver arrives at 9:50 a.m. If the rider is not at the pickup site, the driver will leave at 10:05. The pickup is a NO SHOW. This may result in you being charged for the scheduled ride.
No Show/Cancellation Policy
It is very important that you be ready and on time for your scheduled ride. If you are late and miss your trip, arranging a trip for that same day coule be impossible. Notify GTS as soon as you are aware of a possible cancellation. Failure to cancel a trip without notification is considered a NO SHOW. This may result in you being charged for the scheduled ride. Three NO Show incidents in a row may result in a temporary suspension of service. GTS reserves the right to suspend or terminate your riding privilege with no right of appeal or hearing.
Hours of Service
GTS operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. GTS does not operate on major holidays.

Standing Orders
GTS will schedule regular recurring trips (work, school, therapy, etc.) for you. Call GTS to request a standing order.
